ECU students at an event

A personal testimony from Alex Fisher, a Compress and Shock Board Member that started a chapter at ECU.

“Here at East Carolina University, we began our chapter of the Compress and Shock Foundation by first developing a strong relationship with a team of ECU faculty and staff members who already had community connections. Using their connections, this team began to reach out to community partners to offer our CPR/AED trainings to their organizations. Shortly after, we had several organizations interested in our CPR/AED training program and began to gather CPR trainers from the university to assist at our trainers. This was completed by hosting “Train the Trainer” events at the university in which students learned how to teach CPR/AED education to the community. After gathering a list of accredited trainers, we began our CPR/AED trainings in the community with a lot of success. We continued to network with organizations and adding onto our program. In 2023, we were able to successfully train over 1,000 community members and give out over 30 AEDs to organizations.”
