Dr. Jack Perkins, M.D. wins Montgomery Award

On December 1, 2023, Dr. Perkins represented the work of the foundation at the Citizens CPR Foundation Cardiac Arrest Survival Summit. His presentation, entitled "Pilot of Community-Centric Approach to CPR and AED Education for the Public with Specific Focus on Underserved Populations", was voted the second best presentation out of 221 speakers. The Montgomery Award is presented at the Citizen CPR Foundation (CCPRF) Cardiac Arrest Survival Summit to the best concurrent presentation and is sponsored by an unrestricted grant from the Laerdal Foundation for Acute Medicine. The following description and criteria are abstracted from the program:
“William H. Montgomery, MD Excellence in Education Award”
The William H. Montgomery, MD, Excellence in Education Award was designed to promote the highest level of educational content. This award is named in honor of Dr. Montgomery, who served as co-founder and president of the Citizen CPR Foundation for more than 15 years and remains on the CCPRF Board as an emeritus member. The award is sponsored by the Laerdal Foundation for Acute Medicine. A plaque and $500 honorarium will be awarded to the primary presenter post conference.
Presentations were judged based on the following criteria, listed on the CCPRF website:
Value of the content to the Summit audience
Quality of teaching methodology
Innovation
Presenters’ knowledge of the subject matter
Degree to which the objectives of the presentation were achieved
Overall quality of presentation
I’m pleased to report that your presentation entitled “Statewide Pilot of Community-Centric Approach to CPR and AED Education for the Public with Specific Focus on Underserved Populations” was judged to be the outstanding #2 presentation at Summit 2023 as scored by attendees in the presentation audience and as discussed/selected by the selection committee and the CCPRF Board of Directors.
Congratulations and thanks again for such an informative presentation. Not only was it an excellent presentation, but the subject matter was very important. You have set an excellent example of how concurrent sessions should be presented.
