We are hiring a Full-time employee for the 501-c-3 non-profit Compress and Shock Foundation. The Compress and Shock Foundation is a physician-led non-profit founded in 2017 and based in Roanoke, VA, with the mission of providing free and equitable access to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) education to all communities with a specific dedication to those communities most adversely affected by cardiac arrest due to race, ethnicity, primary language, or access to healthcare education.
We are currently the only organization in the US that provides a free, grant-funded AED to learners groups who align with our mission. This AED Access Program was created so that organizations and individuals who otherwise would not be able to learn these skills due to cost, time, cultural, or language barriers are now able to train in their own communities in about one hour. Our education is free and open to all ages 13 and up, and largely occurs on two dates a year nationwide, the first Saturday in June and the third Sunday in October. Eligible groups receive an AED when they complete the free training, thus coupling the skill set with the life-saving device.
To date we have trained over 9000 learners for free in CPR and AED and placed 200 AEDs in communities of need. Each year we continue to expand our class offerings and we currently have curriculums in English, Spanish, Nepalese, Dari, Arabic, and American Sign Language.
A full-time employee would assist the growth of the foundation and our continued promotion of this novel educational model.
This is ideally a 2-year position with a start date of Spring 2024 (flexible based on candidate.) Remote work options and flexible hours are available. We have an experienced board of 12 members who will assist and advise our consultant. Our founder/executive director as well as our vice-director have been with the organization since 2017.
